Dubai is building a tower taller than the Burj Khalifa and it's expected to be finished in 2020

Dubai doesn't joke when it comes to development and constructing world-class architectural structures.

The largest city in the United Arab Emirates is building a tower which will become the tallest building in the world. The building, when completed, will stand at 3,045 feet tall, making it 328 feet taller than the Burj Khalifa which is currently the tallest building. It is being built at Dubai Creek Habour.

The building will have open-air garden decks and host both home residences and commercial spaces. The structure was designed by Spanish-Swiss architect Santiago Calatrava who has designed some notable buildings all over the world. The building relies on cable tethers to secure it against the wind and earthquake.

Construction of the tower began in October 2016 and is expected to be finished by 2020. The project is expected to cost $1 Billion.
